In less than a week, New Blood Rising will provide a platform for WCW’s ever-evolving group of superstars.
But some men just couldn’t wait for Canada. Goldberg, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Sting were all looking for vengeance, both in the ring and backstage at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
PLUS: Lance Storm attempts to add another belt to his collection… the World Heavyweight Title.

Scott Steiner arrived at the Pepsi Center, sharing some unkind words with WCW cameramen.
Kevin Nash arrived uncharacteristically early.
Backstage, Goldberg asked Doug Dellinger if Nash had arrived yet.
Vampiro, Muta and Demon d. The Jung Dragons
This wild six-man match saw Vampiro’s cronies dominating the action, despite several incredible aerials from the Dragons (including a ladder splash from Kaz). Both Vampiro and Demon hit their finishers, but Muta scored the pin after a moonsault.
Post-match, Sting cleared the ring, took the mic, and promised to get revenge on Goldberg.
Backstage, Goldberg and Nash fought, but were stopped by security.
Steiner, with pipe, attacked Sting on the walkway.
After a commercial break, The Cat addressed fans from the ring. The Commissioner warned Nash and Goldberg to relax… or risk arrest.
Steiner, however, wasn’t quite as lucky. The Cat signed Pump to a lead pipe on a pole match…against Sting. Afterwards, The Cat tried to return backstage, but was confronted by Lance Storm. The Canadian Superstar demanded a match against World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T… The Cat agreed.
Announcers Tony Schiavone, Scott Hudson and Mark Madden commented on the amazing matches set for the broadcast.
Billy Kidman joined the color commentating position. He apologized for attacking Torrie on a personal level. The former Cruiserweight Champion admitted that he once loved Torrie, and declared the evening “Torrie Appreciation Night.” Kidman left to prepare.
Kronik d. Jindrak and O’Haire
WCW Tag Team Title Match
Early in the match, The Perfect Event joined the announcing team. O’Haire and Jindrak did their best to match strength with the champions, but found their speed a better weapon. The Power Plant graduates absorbed a great deal of punishment, and O’Haire executed his Sean-ton Bomb on Clark. Clark kicked out at two, allowing Kronic a chance to regroup and dominate.
Perfect Event, however, wasn’t willing to allow Kronik an unfettered win. Chuck Palumbo and Perfect Shawn used their Lex Flexors, with the blessing of O’Haire and Jindrak, and clobbered the Champions.
The Filthy Animals charged the ring. Post-match, all eight men attacked Kronik until MIA made the save.
After commercial, backstage, General Rection addressed his troops. The mission: Return the title belts to Kronik, and force Ms. Hancock to wrestle in the mud.
Backstage, “Positively” Kanyon tried to get Torrie to be his tag-team partner, but she refused. Desperate, Kanyon forced Pamela Paulshock to accompany him to the ring.
Buff and Judy Bagwell d. “Positively” Kanyon and Pamela Paulshock
Bagwell worked over Kanyon for a good measure of the match, but the Positive One finally managed to knock Buff Daddy to the arena floor. Kanyon knocked Judy to the floor, too, before being slapped by the uncooperative Pamela Paulshock. Enter Gene Okerlund. As Pamela begged to avoid a Kanyon Cutter, Okerlund turned Kanyon, delivered a low blow and setup Bagwell for the Buff Blockbuster.

In a gripping interview, Schiavone asked Russo about Bash at the Beach, WCW’s progress, Ric Flair and even John Rocker. A must-see.
Scott Steiner d. Sting
Pipe on a pole match
The fight started before the bell, and continued at a feverish pace. Despite Steiner’s vast array of suplexes, The Stinger kept his focus. After referee Slick Johnson was knocked down, Rick Steiner came to the ring to help his brother. The ruckus knocked the pipe off the pole. Steiner grabbed the weapon, won the match and began to work over Sting. Enter Nash. Big Sexy made the save, but security didn’t allow the brawl to continue.
Enraged, The Cat booked a match between Nash/Sting and The Steiner Brothers.
Mike Awesome and Mighty Heidi joined the announcing team. A waiter brought over a tray of hamburgers.
Booker T d. Lance Storm
WCW Heavyweight Title Match
Pre-match, Storm once again denounced America. Booker arrived, and these two exemplary athletes displayed both their conditioning and intelligence. Fans roared as Storm survived numerous moves, Booker escaped the Canadian Maple Leaf and the Canadian Superstar finally fell to the Book End.
Post-match, Jarrett ran through the audience and attacked Booker with Storm’s flag. The move downed the World Champ, but angered Storm. As Jarrett and Storm battled, they inadvertently struck Mighty Heidi with his guitar, prompting Awesome to wreak havoc, and deliver Jarrett to the ring. Booker dropped his New Blood Rising nemesis with the Book End.

Backstage, AWOL “accidentally” entered the ladies locker room, in search of the Animals.
Billy Kidman Presents Torrie Wilson Appreciation Night
Holding roses, champagne, a crown and a box of candy, Kidman treated Torrie to a plethora of compliments.
Backstage, Torrie looked upset and headed toward the ring. After she arrived, Kidman called for a special video presentation in her honor. The video chronicled a chunky and awkward Torrie, enjoying a birthday party. After the tape, copies of Torrie’s high school yearbook photos fell from the ceiling.
Enter the Franchise. Kidman pulled some brass knuckles from a box of chocolates. Torrie attempted to ka-bong Kidman with a champagne bottle, but Kidman gained control… until Reno hit the ring.
Nitro Girl Syren’s boyfriend pummeled Kidman, allowing Douglas to recover and whip the former Cruiserweight Champion with a belt.
Backstage, The MIA discovered the Filthy Animals, who were heading toward their getaway car. While Gunns worked over Tygress, Kronic decimated the Animals’ car with a sledgehammer. The Animals were eventually pulled from the vehicle, beaten mercilessly and robbed of their stolen belts.
In the arena, Gunns tossed Tygress into the mud. The MIA-babe proved vicious, but an attack from Ms. Hancock changed the landscape of the bout completely. Tygress and Hancock worked over Gunns.
Jeff Jarrett d. Mike Awesome
Awesome started strong, but Jarrett’s conniving finally earned him the advantage. When Awesome rebounded, Storm appeared at the dressing room entrance, with his broken Canadian flag. Awesome tried to ignore his New Blood Rising opponent, but Storm quickly came to the ring apron. In an attempt to cost Awesome the match, Storm was eventually pushed off the apron, and through a table that Awesome had reserved for double-J. The distraction did give Jarrett a much-needed distraction. The Chosen One connected with The Stroke and won the match.
Pamela Paulshock Interview
The Kwee-Wee introduced his wife Papaya and immediately snapped at her.
Sting and Kevin Nash d. The Steiner Brothers
An exciting and hard-hitting contest, all four men saw moments of advantage, and felt the brunt of their opponent’s power and brutality. The Steiner’s tag experience started making a difference after a few minutes, giving Pump a chance to lock the Steiner Recliner on Sting. Enter Bill Goldberg. The phenom crushed Steiner but, after Sting made the pin, Goldberg dropped The Painted One with a vicious side kick. Nash re-entered the ring, and a brutal battle commenced. Many members of the WCW locker room rushed the ring and did their best to separate Pump, Goldberg and Nash.
